Roger Federer is retiring — at least that was the message to the tennis world last week.
The producers of the British television show “Road to Roland Garros” played a nasty little trick last month. They announced during their broadcast that Roger Federer would be retiring at the end of this season.
Twitter exploded. Fed fans were in complete shock. No one could face the truth of this imminent conclusion. Finally came complete denial of the story.
And just before tennis fans took to the streets in protest, they announced that it was indeed a hoax.
This just goes to show Federer doesn’t even have to be around to pull off a good joke involving him.
Earlier this month, the tennis great posted a picture of some hail on his Facebook page asking, “What the hail is going on?”
Federer’s presence in the tennis world would be severely missed for different reasons. Some would miss the hair, while others would miss just watching him in action.
For Federer, there is no such thing as being lonely at the top. And he’s having a “hail” of a good time enjoying his illustrious career.
