It’s not the best idea ripping shirts after a 2nd-round win, even if it is against the mighty Tsonga.
But Jerzy hasn’t always been known for his tempered demeanor…
Jerzy Janowicz celebrated in animated fashion on Wednesday after he booked a spot in the third round at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.
Janowicz recorded his third Top 10 win with seven aces and several forehand winners to defeat eighth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 7-6(5) in 88 minutes. He will next play another Frenchman, ninth seed Richard Gasquet.
“I was really happy especially because I didn’t get off to a good start to the season and I was sick,” said Janowicz. “So this was really important for me.”
I understand being happy about a win, but you’d think Janowicz just won the tournament instead of a 2nd-round match. I’m sure his gear sponsor isn’t pleased, to say the least.
Here’s an extremely boring interview with Janowicz after the win… hard to believe this guy has that much emotion in him.
And our favorite Facebook comment on the event:
“What a pathetic act, ripping his t-shirt in “Djoko-style”, after a second round, two sets victory. Djokovic did it after winning the longest GS final ever… This year this guy will be 23. At his age, Nadal already had won almost everything, and he never ripped his t-shirt off. I remember Janowicz’s interviews during Paris-Bercy, talking as he was kind of god… Who do you think you are? Gasquet will make you go back to earth tomorrow.”
