Just hours after learning that his 82-year-old grandfather had passed away, Novak Djokovic came from a set down to defeat Alexandr Dolgopolov 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Djokovic was on a practice court earlier that afternoon when he learned the news that his grandfather, Vladimir, had died at his apartment home in Belgrade.
The World No. 1 left the court in tears and it was uncertain whether he would stay in Monte Carlo to continue the tournament.
Here he is closing out the set on his first match point.
Djokovic will next face R. Haase in the quarterfinals.
