Maria Sharapova may have lost in the final in Madrid — and continued her losing streak against Serena Williams — but that hasn’t damaged her optimism.
Maybe it’s because there is a new love in her life.
On Thursday, she was photographed with fellow professional tennis player Grigor Dimitrov around the streets of Madrid.
With Sharapova and Dimitrov both competing in the Madrid Open — and Dimitrov upsetting Novak Djokovic in the second round — their public spotting confirmed rumors that the two were a couple.
Following the upset win, Dimitrov mentioned his girlfriend and credited the unidentified female — believed to be Sharapova — for some words of encouragement before the match.
Then, it was Sharapova’s turn to send cryptic messages about her relationship with Dimitrov. Following her third-round win over Sabine Lisicki by a score of 6-2, 7-5, Sharapova took a marker and scribbled out a message seemingly directed at the paparazzi who snapped the photos of her and her new beau.
With a smile on her face, she wrote: “How did you catch us?”
